I think that some of the commercials for the 50's 60's and certain movie shots are way more of a turn on than most smoking videos.

I believe in their efforts to get too many videos done, with as much smoking as possible, they have missed the mark. I would much rather have a video that had only women who truely loved their cigarettes, could talk and act (not fake, but knew how to portray a character in front of a camera comfortably even when it is their own character. In this case the character would be someone who loved smoking, and could get that across.)

If I were doing it, I would talk about what the person loved about smoking, (coach them when needed before the shoot) about brand preference, about how it felt for them to watch the smoke, how they held their cigarettes, and inhale etc etc. Now some of them try, but the "actresses" either don't really answer the questions, or don't really expound upon thes things, or get flustered talking about it and are too shy or something to really get into the smoking. It's funny because in real life I see girls all the time really, really enjoying their cigarettes.

As far as the actresses getting smoked out. They could reheasrse the scenes with unlit cigarrettes and then do a shoot. For me 2 or maybe 3 cigs smoked, and not unnatural drag after drag after drag, would be more than enough. They could rehearse the first scene, really get it down where the actress is talking comfortably but enthusiastically, (with smiles of course) about what they like about smoking and coach them to really pay attention to the cigarette and their smoking smoothly. Shoot that scene. Rehearase the next for 15 -20 minutes, shoot that and so on.

I'm sure these girls could handle 3 fairly normally smoked cigarettes in an hour and a half or a couple of hours.

I would be much happier with a shorter yet well done professionally video. And by professional I mean really believable. Thats what makes really great movies great, you can get into the characters because the great actors and producers make it believable, even wierd sci-fi or unbelievable subject matter.
