Re : Marlboro Girls -- Cigman
Before my home town, Lawrence Kansas, banned smoking in all indoor public places--including bars!! :-( Marlboro Girls would come in at least once a month. They didn't encourage people to smoke or talk people into smoking. They also aweren't allowed to smoke, at least not in the bar I frequented. They would come around with a laptop computer in their hand with it strapped around their neck and have a backpack containing cigarette packs and Marlboro lighters. They would ask people if they smoked, if they smoked Marlboro's. If the patron answered yes, she would ask if they would complete a survey (the information would be typed into the computer. She would also check their driver's license for a reason I'm not really sure of, since all i.D's are checked at the door. I never participated because I don't smoke. Anyways, after completing the survey, the Marlboro girl would give the willing survey participant either a pack of Marlboros or a Marlboro lighter for participating. The Marlboro Girl would ask if they would like a pack of Marlboros or a lighter. Hope this helps and answers some of your questions.Karlin
