As soon as we pulled out of the parking lot Staci lit up a Virginia Slim. By the time we got to the restaurant, she had smoked it down to the filter. It was a nice Mexican restaurant with big round booths and dim lighting. Staci asked for smoking, of course, and the hostess took us to one of the big round booths. Staci scooted towards the middle while I stayed close to the outer edge. “How are we supposed to talk with you all the way over there?” she teased. “Huh?” “Scoot a little closer, Hon,” she said as she pulled an unopened pack of Virginia Slims from her purse and unwrapped the cellophane, “I won’t bite.” I moved closer to her while she lit her cigarette with a slim gold lighter and noticed that of the three packs I’d put in there this morning, only one remained. The one she had just opened was the second. As soon as the waitress came over she ordered our drinks. A Coke for me and a Margarita for her self. We snacked on the chips and salsa while I told Staci about the appointment I’d made for her the next day. “That’s great Joey! That’s a potential client I might have lost if it weren’t for you.” When the waitress brought our drinks Staci ordered the same thing for both of us. “Trust me, you’ll love it,” she said after the waitress had left. She then lit up a new cigarette and took a sip of her Margarita. “Mmmm,” she said while exhaling through her nostrils, “Wanna try a sip?” She slid the glass towards me and I looked around to see if anyone was watching. “Go on,” she winked, “It’s okay.” Without lifting the glass I leaned down and took a sip from the little straws. “What do you think?” she said, moving the glass in front of her and taking another sip. “That really is good,” I said, meaning it. “I know,” she said, taking a puff and sliding the glass back to me,”They make the best Margaritas here.” I took a bigger sip and moved the glass back to her. Since she was letting me drink with her I thought about asking her for a puff of her cigarette. I decided to sort of go for it. “Staci?” I asked timidly, “The next time you have a cigarette can I light it for you.” “Sure you can Honey,” she said as she stubbed out her spent Virginia Slim, “As a matter of fact, I think I’m ready for another one now.” My heart was pounding and I was starting to get aroused as she reached for her pack on the table. She handed me the lighter and shook out a cigarette. Now when I had asked her if I could light her next cigarette, I had meant that I would put it in my mouth and actually light it myself. When she held the Virginia Slim to her mouth and leaned in towards me I realized she thought I was asking her if I could give her a light. She looked so sexy waiting for her light that I decided that this was pretty good too. My hand was shaking a little and she placed her hand on the back of mine to steady it. I managed to get it lit and held the flame to the tip of her cigarette. I felt her eyes on me and looked up at them as she puffed the Virginia Slim to life. Keeping her eyes on me she sat up and brought the cigarette from her lips, holding it up to her side. She then tilted her head all the way back and exhaled a huge stream of smoke straight up to the ceiling. “You did that very well, Joey,” she said after exhaling, “You’re going to end up spoiling me.” She took a sip from her drink, then said, “I’ve taught you two very important things today, Honey?” “What’s that?” I asked, placing the lighter back on top of her Virginia Slim pack. “How to make coffee and how to light a woman’s cigarette.” We continued to talk and munch on the chips. Staci gave me a couple of more sips from her Margarita. We had finished it off by the time our food came and Staci ordered another. She let me have a few more sips of that one too, and ordered a third one when the waitress was clearing our plates. After Staci touched up her lipstick, she shook a cigarette loose from her pack and handed me the lighter. “May I have a light?” she asked, scooting close to me in the booth so that our legs were now touching. “Sure,” I said, my voice cracking a little as she brought the filter to her lips. She steadied my hand as before, but instead of exhaling into the ceiling, she blew a thin stream of smoke into my face. “That’s quite a gentleman you have there,” the waitress said as she approached our booth with Staci’s third Margarita. “Yes he is,” Staci said, clenching the Virginia Slim in her teeth as she took a credit card out of her purse and handed it to the waitress. I lit one more cigarette for Staci as we talked, and had three more sips of the Margarita. I was taking my third sip when the waitress brought the credit card slip for Staci to sign. The waitress didn’t seem to care. Staci handed me the receipt, polished off the last of her drink, crushed out her cigarette, and scooted out of the booth. When I stood up I felt a little dizzy, much as I had felt earlier when I tried inhaling. Staci must have noticed, because she grabbed my arm to steady me. “You okay, Hon?” she asked with a sly smile. “I’m fine,” I said as I regained my balance, “Thank you for lunch.” “You’re welcome,” she said as we walked out of the restaurant, “We can’t afford to do this every day, but once in a while should be okay.” The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I organized the receipts from her check book as well as those from her corporate American Express account. Periodically I’d open my desk drawer and look at the packs of Virginia Slims as I worked. At one point I was in Staci’s office and observed her getting the last pack of cigarettes out of her purse and opening them. Exactly how much did this lady like to smoke each day? I loved it. A couple of more time I thought about asking Staci for a cigarette, or even just lighting one up at my desk. I decided to go with my original plan of practicing more before going that far. We left the office around 5:30 that evening and Staci gave me a little kiss on the cheek as she dropped me off at my house. “So what do ya think,” she asked as I got out of the car, “You wanna keep doin’ this all summer?” “You bet!” I said, flashing a huge smile. “You had a great first day, Honey. I’m glad you seem to like it.” She had no idea.
