Re : Rush Hour Smokers -- Billy
While I don't ride Metra, I used to spend summer Friday morning layovers with my truck on the east end of CP's Bensenville Yard taking train photos from the Mannheim platform on the Milwaukee District West Line. There was one lady; cute, plump, short hair that framed her face real nice, maybe 30 or so, who caught one of the few trains that stopped here. She would come walking up the street about 15 minutes before her train did, sipping a coffee and smoking her Newport 100 for all it was worth, and had time to stand in the shelter for another cig, sometimes two, until her train arrived. Even if I was napping over the steering wheel, I usually got out to chat with her just to watch her smoke. She smoked her Newport 100 like it was nothing. As strong as they are, she could kill one or two in no time like it was air! As the headlight approached from the west, we'd give each other our standard sarcasticly toned "Have a good time at work", and I'd watch as she often took one long drag after another, smoke boiling from her nose as she took the next drag, for as many as it took to finish the cig before she tossed it onto the tracks. All the time I had my camera at my side and never tried to get a shot of her. Many days now I wish I had at least tried.
