Here is an excerpt I discovered:

… a source close to the Levy family claims that upon revealing to loved ones her relationship, the intern added that Condit had become “obsessed” with her cigarette habit. The source, speaking on terms of anonymity, claims that Levy said she came to understand that the Congressman had previously believed that she smoked in his presence only to “satisfy him” and that when Levy, a purported fitness buff, revealed to him early this spring that she had smoked regularly since age 14, Condit reportedly “went crazy” and “could no longer control his desires.”…
