Anita woke up the next day with a craving. She couldn’t get her mind off of the cigarettes that she had smoked last night. She went into the kitchen, and started making herself some coffee, and sat down to read the paper. Her right hand kept itching, and she couldn’t realize what was wrong. She thought of Robert, and how it was nice to meet a great guy at a bar. Anita drank her coffee, but it didn’t taste right. Something was missing, but what was it. Anita got up found her purse, and reached in and pulled out her Marlboro Lights. She put it in between her lips, and lit up. Anita loved it, and figured that’s what was missing. She took another drag and kept it in her mouth. This was great, and after she was done, she had another. It was Saturday, and Anita had nothing to do. She thought she would just lounge around, and see what was on TV. Anita started watching one of her favorite movies, and grabbed her cigarettes. Her cigarettes, Anita loved thinking that. She smoked, and she smoked until her apartment filled with it. The problem was she had smoked most of the pack last night, and she needed to get more. Anita ran down to the store, and who was there but George. She told him that she would like two packs of Marlboro Lights. As she walked out, turned around, lit up, and asked George what he thought. George stood there dumbfounded, and Anita left with a smoky laughter. Around four o’clock, Anita’s phone rang. She put out her cigarette, and picked up the phone. It was Robert. She couldn’t believe he would call. She hoped, but no one ever called her. He asked if she was free that night, and that he knew a great Italian restaurant downtown. Anita told him she would meet him there at eight.
Later that night, Robert and Anita sat down for a nice dinner. Anita pulled out a cigarette, and Robert lit it for her with his Zippo.
“MMM, Thank you.” Anita said as she pulled back on her Marlboro. “I really like when you do that, and missed it when I was smoking by myself earlier.”
Robert quickly lit his cigarette and told her that she looked ravishing when she smoked. Anita blushed. Anita and Robert sat there talking for hours on anything and everything. Robert was a writer for a national magazine, and hoped to write a book someday. Anita was enthralled with what Robert had to say. Robert told her compliments upon compliments, and lit every one of her cigarettes. Anita was glad that she had bought two packs that day. As the night came to a close, so did the restaurant, and Anita and Robert said their goodbyes. Robert gave Anita one more light, and she took in the smoke ever so slowly. Robert was about to turn around, when Anita grabbed him, and gave him a big smoky kiss. Robert was knocked off his feet, and Anita got her car, and told him to call her Sunday night. Anita had never been like this before, so strong, and confident. Was it the cigarettes? Were they making her feel different? She didn’t care, and had a couple more before she went to bed.
