Your tone sounded reasonable and moderate to me; I think it was the content that r*ffled feathers. You must grant that if you have a right to complain about others' complaints, they have the same right to have complained in the first place. I've done enough of it myself. Because the nuisance isn't always as minor as you make out. For instance, one post of mine kept getting thrown back at me, and the offending word either wasn't specified, or wasn't there. I had to go through paragraph by paragraph, sentence by sentence, and delete one passage after another until I finally hit the right one, without ever finding out what was in it that had gotten it barred. All in all, the task took about an hour--a lot more time than it was worth, in my opinion. And since this for*m is the only one I know of where it's necessary, I think it's natural that a lot of users would be moved to grouse about it.

This post itself is a case in point. One word in it contains a two-letter sequence, another a three-letter sequence that occur in thousands of words (they return 1.6 billion and 6 million Google hits respectively), so I had to either change the words or add extraneous characters to them. This seems just silly.
