Of course I am sure you also remember some of the other significant places where smoking was common place but now is forbidden. Office buildings for one, and most jobs I had before they went no-smoking the work day was filled with great sightings. Trains, planes, and buses were also often smoky, sensuous, journeys. And how about the stores, including grocery stores. It is great that you can enjoy just seeing the cigarettes in a lovely lady's purse these days and it is enough to stimulate your fantasies. But many probably don't realize it used to be commonplace for these beautiful women to be smoking while waiting on line with you. And I would often waste time in the supermarket going down an aisle that I didn't need to just to enjoy the smoke of a gorgeous gal who was smoking as she shopped. Most stores were like that. I remember being in a smaller "dry goods" store and the only employee was a beautiful woman of about 28. She had just lit a Benson & Hedges gold and was struggling to get a big box on one of the upper shelves. So I offered my assistance and as she dangled her freshly lit B&H inches from my face, we both lifted the box and placed it where it belonged.
And of course beauty salons were wonderful. I am fortunate in that the girl who cuts my hair now is a close friend and through her I have become good friends with all the girls who work with her and often join them outside for a smoke as I wait my turn, or after my haircut. But it is not the same as when the beautiful beauticians would actually have a cigarette while they were cutting your hair (and you could see their co-workers and many of the patrons smoking as well). I remember one haircut I got many years ago where my stylist was smoking and so intent on her work that she didn't notice she was blowing many of her exhales in my face. She may not have realized where her exhales were going...but she probably noticed my apron rising :)
