VT, I hear you. At times, it is not fun. Would like to share my SF. And this is where I share ... and with the handful of opportunities I've created in which I was able to reach out to actual working members of the SF community, namely producers/webmasters at Specialized Videos, SmokinStyle, Light-MyFire, Random Snaps, LightUp Time, Miss Kitty Lynn and a former free-lancer with Smoke Signals Magazine. Shared affliction to SF with two former colleagues at work. They did not understand; thought it was (surprise) weird.
My wife sees me caught by attractive younger women. She has not extrapolated (and please don't go there, she's fairly bright and usually very perceptive) that I'm not looking at hot women, instead I'm enthralled by sexy woman smokers. There are times she knows I'm staring at young female smokers, but she presumes that I have anti thoughts in my head.
Just curious, VT, and you might have mentioned this previously on this board and it's not meant as an intrusion (but you are a public figure), but what's your status? Are you married? If so, does she smoke? If so, what brand? And does she "get" your SF tendencies?
And you are right, we are worlds apart, aside from your distaste for my "moocher" status. I'll give you more ammunition to attack, if you are so inclined: I root for the Yankees, prefer Corona, cannot stand wine, disavow NASCAR/Sprint Cup, am repulsed by golf, swore off American Idol until this past season, enjoy old Woody Allen movies, love Everybody Loves Raymond and would choose to watch soccer, hockey or lacrosse over football, basketball and baseball. Heck, I even favored Hilary Clinton for prez at first! No I don't fit the typical SF profile here, whatever that is. But show me two 18 year olds leaving a convenience store, packing their fresh packs of Newport 100s and Marlboro 100s, ripping off the celophane, whipping out their smokes, lighting up hungrily and exhaling huge plumes of smoke and you know I'm a legitimate member of the SF community. In that scenario (maybe one of them is drunk, the other curses and both have 3 year olds waiting in their '88 skylark with a 6 year old watching the toddlers), or one slightly different for you but similar enough to mine, we have walked in each other's shoes.
Living a double-life, plain and simple, is part of my life. So be it.
